I am using the following command to get a tab delimited text file from the
IFS to an AS/400 physical file;
CPYFRMIMPF FROMSTMF('/market/Uk group orig.txt')
           TOFILE(JBADATA/QASSPD)
           MBROPT(*UPDADD)
           RCDDLM(*CR)
           FLDDLM(*TAB)
I run it and it copies the first record then reports back;
The copy did not complete for reason code 9.
1 records copied from member QACP461872.
I know you are all dying to know what reason code 9 is, and the suggested
help;
What;
   9 - The data for the field EMID is not valid for the data type of the
TOFILE.
How to fix it;
   9 - Change the data in the FROMFILE.
Helpful, what?
EMID is a numeric field, defined as being 16 digits long on the AS/400.

The file is a PC file of our mailing database. If there is a better way
of getting the data on to the AS/400 (and bear in mind I'll have to roll
this task out for to a USER(!)) I'm open to suggestions.
