Mac, I have never, in over 20 years, heard of "lost" data on an IBM midrange
platform. I have accidentally deleted libraries, grunged up access paths,
and corrupted data queues, but never has data in a physical file
mysteriously been lost or changed.

I have occasionally damaged objects, and a damaged physical file can mean
data corruption. However, this is a very rare occurence, usually associated
with abnormal terminations or power outages.

Not only that, any seriously critical files were often journaled. And in
that case, even if a program ran amok and wiped out data, we could reverse
the changes and recover the data.

No, the integrity of DB2/400 as compared to any PC operating system is
pretty much like comparing steel to balsa wood.
