There are two elements in using a 3488...

(a) The terminal handles ALL the emulation and it works quite well.
(b) The terminal handles part of the emulation and the system
    converts the data stream to a "usable" data stream via HPT.

The 3488 emulation was/is quite good and will handle "most"
situations until you get into PCL type printers, which it does
not deal with at all. This is where HPT handles the rest of the
problem. Set up the terminal to use *laserjet(which it has) and
then crtdevd on the 400 for the new printer using HPT. I have been
able to attach almost any HP printer this way. Qsysarb is not your
problem in my opinion.
