Howard: Try defining a separate out queue with Remote System (*INTNETADR), Connection Type(*IP). I can send you more detailed set up if you need it. But the long and short of it is do not create a *LAN device. Just set up the remote out queue, and specify HOST PRINT TRANSFORM (HPT)(*YES) if you want to print IPDS "stuff" on it. Warning, you might lose some of the "drawer" capabilities when set up this way. What we did is hook up two out queues to one printer. One is a *LAN device, the other we use when we need to print overlays, is the out queue described above using HPT. David Smith Tri-State Hospital Supply Corp. However the good folks forgot to mention that this printer needs to print APU IPDS stuff so those reports just sit in the queue waiting for the printer to be IPDS capable. Meanwhile I attempted to define an IPDS printer using the IP address and other things related to the 8100 but no joy, the device attempts to start but quits immediately. I suspect for one thing that I needed to get rid of the other device that I created for a standard ASCII device and did not! now I can't get the original device to come alive, I get the message "Printer powered off or not yet available" (according to the operator, the printer was in power save mode) So I guess I have two questions, what diabolical deed did I do to screw up the original definition ? and How can I get an 8100 to do IPDS work?
