Andy,

You are correct. For anyone else considering dropping
software support, we do have access to downloadable
fixes. We don't really self diagnose but apply the
fixes that are necessary according to our software
vendors. Why fix what isn't broken? For the longest
time IBM continued to download priority fixes to our
system. Stability and reliability are wonderful things.

My thoughts on adding a substantial amount of new disk
to an old system are the condition of the exising drives
if RAID is used for the drives. If one of the new drives
failed and one of the old ones died before you could replace
the new drive bad things will happen.

Thanks

Konrad
