Hi, Just to add to Neil's nocturnal comment, you CANNOT upgrade from CISC to V3R1 without extraordinary help. You cannot do a RSTAUT from V3R2 to V5R1. It gives you an immediate "completed normally" message, and does nothing. Theoretically, you could do a DSPOBJAUT to an output file on V3R2, transport the file to V5R1, and write your own apply program. I did this once when V2R1M1 was not honoring System/38 authorities, but it was years ago. If you're going to go from V4R4 to V4R5 you better get an order in to IBM ASAP. V4R5 is withdrawn from sales as of July 2nd - after that you'll have to go to V5R1. http://www-912.ibm.com/supporthome.nsf/Document/17623433 ...Neil "Andy Nolen-Parkhouse" <aparkhouse@attbi.com> To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> cc: Subject: RE: Since when is adding DASD so difficult? Pam, You're welcome, and I hope it survives a more rigorous examination. I would echo some of the other comments though. Why such hesitancy to upgrade your IBM software? Upgrades from V4R4 to V4R5 or V5R1 are commonplace and have been done without significant error. It seems unusual to structure a hardware purchase to avoid an upgrade. Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse > Subject: RE: Since when is adding DASD so difficult? > > > Thanks, this sounds promising. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
