George,

Been a long time since I did the APPN stuff but
the mode problem is significant. You may want to
look at the DSPNETA on each machine and see what
it is set to then do a WRKMODD to see if there is
a compatible match between the two...

This is the DSPNETA stuff from our machine...
 Local network ID . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : APPN
 Local control point name . . . . . . . . . . . . : SXXXXXXX
 Default local location . . . . . . . . . . . . . : SXXXXXXX
 Default mode . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : BLANK
 APPN node type . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *ENDNODE
 Data compression . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE
 Intermediate data compression . . . . . . . . . : *NONE

Good luck!

Konrad
