This story has been going round for so long now -it's got whiskers!

The events are (allegedly) as follows:


MS used AS/400's
MS stopped using AS/400's - because they outsourced the operations.
(but the company they outsourced the operations to were using AS/400's)

One version of the fable mentioned the attempt to use numerous NT servers but 
weren't able to provide the same computing power and
robustness as the AS/400 - but like all stories the slant varies depending on 
who's telling it!

Are you sure? According to MS's TechNet article "AS/400s Extinct at
Microsoft Since May, 1999" not.
