we have 20 6718 drives. Last year, about this time, in 4 month, 12 of them
failed with an error of 6718FFFx.
This included a mirrored pair on August 6 => scratch install, 2 days outage.

Finally, IBM replaced all of our 20 drives in September.

There was a DASD ptf, look out for it. I would talk with IBM if you have the
old, affected drives.
