Communication errors on the printer can cause a printed spool file to be
held after printing. Basically the 2-way communication from the printer is
not telling the AS400 that it finished printing. The spool program looses
communications with the printer and holds the current spool file. The
system will auto-reset or someone answers the message for the printer and
the writer picks up the next file and prints, until it repeats again.

HHHMMMMM - your right. I dont know what I was thinking of, but I swore there
were some spools that had been printed, now with a status of HLD.
