You state that the total size of the save files is 2.5GB. Okay, is that the
size of the save file on the tape?

Most tapes will compress data, so that 2.5GB could be 5GB, as most compression
schemes get 50% compression (twice as small on tape) yet can get drastically
more depending on the data. I've seen some compression schemes get 90%
compression on some data.

When you built the save file did you save with compression?

That would probably be some of your DASD discrepancy. The rest may be in the
actual data saved, perhaps they are logical files that are being built and so
take up more room on the DASD than the tape? (I actually have no idea how
OS400 saves logical files).

Hi All,

I'm facing a peculiar problem. I have a tape that contains save files & th=
e total size of the save files is about 2.5 GB. But if i try to restore to=
my AS400 server, with a ASP used % of 70, the ASP used % is shooting up to=
more that 90%. Does that literally mean that the data size is 20 gb ??!!.=
I've tried to restore on 2 different servers and gettitng the same resul=
t. Why's this happening and are there any solutions for this kind of syste=
m behavior?
