Syd, Did you ever say what release of OS/400 and cum level you are running? I just tried your scenario on V5R1 cum 2036 and it worked fine. I created a test text file using notepad. User DNET became the owner and inherited all data and object authorities. *PUBLIC had *EXCLUDE. DNETAUT was authorization list. Then I used Windows explorer to rename the file, then delete it. I checked my PC session and verified that I was connected to the share as DNET. Perhaps you need an OS/400 upgrade or PTF. Based on my test, your system does not appear to be handling this correctly, and if you have IBM software maintenance you could report the problem and let them figure it out. I did the best I could to duplicate the scenario you presented however some details were missing. If you could show your complete DNET user profile, auth screen for /home/dnet/server, DNETAUT screen perhaps that would help. -Marty
