The LinkSys only _forwards_ datagrams, it does not translate the port.. So a datagram addressed to the LinkSys using a certain port will send it to the inside, but the address it goes to must use that port. This is why we probably want something with more features, eventually - probably someone will say 'soonest' <g> but I can't do much more right now - have code to write. The router is set to block WAN probes, but forwarding goes around that, I assume. So I'd better have good security on the boxes themselves, as they would still be exposed, as you say, on the not 'well-know' ports I want to use.
