Not only do you have your libraries, but you also have user profiles, communication descriptions, etc. But, I suppose that for some limited batch processes in a crunch this might work (after all you are an EDI consultant and might apply). 2. Syncing up via tape? Possible. And many of us still rely on tape and not replication. 3. Replication. There are many replication services available. IBM is running a tremendous discount right now on iSeries if you buy a replication package for it. Some vendors: http://faq.midrange.com/data/cache/210.html Also, Sungard will put a backup iSeries in one of their many hotsites, configure the replication software for you and keep it all up to date. Saves you the learning curve and the initial cash outlay. http://www.sungard.com/ Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." He is trying to get some ballpark numbers for budgeting purposes. Anyone out there have any idea about what it costs to have> 1. An agreement to have space available to load onto? 2. Keep a backup system loaded and synced up via tape periodically? The difference I see between the 2 options about is in the first the client has an agreement to be able to use the machine if a disaster is declared, but stores no data on the DR machine. In the 2nd option, the DR machine has a copy of the clients complete system and can be called upon (maybe with only a data refresh) very quickly. Anyone have such an agreement.... Any idea on estimated costs. Thanks, Cjg Carl J.
