I should have said x'05' for the tab - that's the EBCDIC
value and usually converts directly to x'09' ASCII. Use
*CR or *LF for record indicator.

With Excel 2002 it opened up the dialog for parsing the
columns. Maybe there's a default setting or filter for
this?
