Well you have two choices, either call QUSRSPLA without the error code structure, and monitor for an error on the call, or use the error code structure. The advantage of the latter method is that you can actually see what the error is, ie you may not wish to assume that the spool file does not exist unless the actual error you get is CPF3C40. The former method is quick and nasty, so I would recommend using the error code structure and interrogating the value of the error message afterwards.
