I don't believe you can remove the OPT01 and replace it with another
tape.

I "think" you will need another controller to have more than one tape
drive.

I believe that the 170 expects opt01 as the optional ipl device.

You "could" add a 2718(magnetic media controller) and if you have a
7101, you could put a tape in the expansion cage.

Your problem is the MFIOP doesn't do two 1/4" tapes and the opt01.
