I have an old Decision Data dumb terminal which uses a VGA output so you can use
any monitor but alas it's keyboard is proprietary. I often wished it could be
configured to accept a standard keyboard.

I have a flat panel monitor with dual inputs, so I can switch the display easy
enough, but the proprietary keyboard keeps me from using a KVM for it.

Maybe some vendor has a twinax base which accepts a regular keyboard and a VGA
output? Then it could serve as the system console over KVM -- even IP enabled
ones.
