Hi Jay,

On www.iseriesnetwork.com you can  go have a look for 'Starter Kit for the 
AS/400
and iSeries' by Wayne Madden. Although there are many entry level topics in
there, it gives you quite an overview of many things : Jobq's, outq's, routing
entries, subsystems, etc. It also explains how many of the things hang together.
IIRC, the price is about US$ 75.00.
