What client are you using? In other words, what kind of system are you
running the client on?

Thanks for explaining me the difference.

I made some experiences and when making ftp to a Windows server with
DIRSTLYE set to UNIX style, the ls subcomand with -lrt options worked
properly.
I need to do the same for an OS/400 machine, so what I really need is to
get information ordered by time, regardless of the remote machine type,
so the question is: How to make a dir ordered by date to an OS/400
system?

Thanks
Joana

Although they look the same, FTP subcommands do not have the same
options as UNIX commands. If you are on the Windows client, options are
just ignored. If you are an iSeries client, an error is generated. There
are a couple options - ls gives names only, dir gives full information,
formatted according to LISTFMT.
