Of course not(unless you're talking about the American family farmer). But do you honestly think that American business is being allowed to play on a level playing field by the rest of the world? Talk to me about fairness when Japan abandons its protectionist policies, or when a French hospital is allowed to buy equipment that is not made in France. I know someone who died as a result of the malfunction of a heart-lung machine that was used during an emergency operation. The doctor let it slip that he had tried to buy an American made unit of superior quality, but that the French government would not permit the hospital to buy it. The reason was that there was a French manufacturer who made a similar device. The sad part was that the French manufacturer didn't bother to compete with the Americans on either quality or price because the government protected him in the French marketplace. I'm all for free trade. Just make the rules equal.
