Booth, >How old is SEU anyway? 1975 perhaps? The first SEU which I can remember was on the S/32. Wasn't the S/32 around 1976? SEU/32 (and SEU/34 and SEU/36) where all line oriented. No full screen editing in SEU except on the 38 and 400. On the S/3 mod 15D there was a product called SM (Source Maintenance), but I believe it was a PRPQ and ported from mainframes. I particularly disliked how SM changed all trailing blanks on each line to nulls. If you cursored over to a location, say to add an indicator to a line of RPG, but did *not* space bar over to it, then when you pressed Enter the 3270 terminal would compress out the nulls and the indicator would automagically slide over to the previous text. Very frustrating when I first worked on it, until I figured out what was happening... On the 34/36 we also has FSEDIT, the full-screen editor from POP. And later IBM added DSU, which was much like SEU/38. Doug
