When I originally wrote my routine, I was going to use the same approach (justing checking the PSDS) but there was some reason (which I can no longer remember) why I converted to use the message queue. I may simply have been that the positions in the PSDS are intended to be "free form data" and not guarenteed to always be there and never change... but like I said, I don't remember.
