You're not missing anything. IFS would always beat a source member, unless
it was fixed format. I think the good news is, in V5R2, there is evern
BETTER support in the IFS. There's a completely new format for storing and
accessing the data. Details? I don't know, have just heard this from IBMers.

path back then, so I went for convienience and used the traditional PF
approach.  I just wonder why he said that disk space was inefficient...
