It latches on to a lament from Joe Pluta about how so much happens somehow without anybody really knowing what is going on. <rant> Knowledge of how our systems and tools work are IMNSHO fundamental to our work. We should do things because we know precisely why and how, and not because we believe or somebody said "try this, it might work". A counterargument might be that "our systems have become so complex that it is impossible to know how they work", but that is exactly the problem. We should refuse to use complex things, we should strive for simplification in everything. </rant>
