If I remember correctly, the RM Compiler was the first (only?) "real"
compiler RM ever put out.  It did however use a lot of run-time routines.
Can't recall when exactly (I think V4R1) but they stopped support when the
runtime changes required for the release were going to cost more than it was
worth.  They never did have that many customers.

ASNA's Diploma C was around for a few years, but as soon as ILE C came out
(V2R3) with _major_ performance benefits over the old IBM C compiler it
quickly faded out.  The only thing it had going for it was performance and
even System C (V2R1?) wiped out that advantage.  Don't know when ASNA
dropped it but it was a while back.
