You are correct on all counts. MYFILE is an object (type *FILE) on the system that may contain one or more members. In a sense, a member is an object also, just as a chart is an object of an Excel Spreadsheet. DSPPFM is one "method" to access the member. Hope that didn't confuse you furthur. Donald R. Fisher, III Project Manager The Roomstore Furniture Company (804) 784-7600 extension 2124 DFisher@roomstoreeast.com <clip> I understood that I was creating a SRC-PF file member, MYFILE, in the QDDSSRC file in my library for my physical file, MYFILE (whew!). I also thought I understood that the PF that was created after the compile of the SRC-PF member was actually an object in my library (this is what the text states)...however, the command to display the contents of the PF object, MYFILE, is DSPPFM (display physical file member). So, is the file that actually contains the data a Member or an Object? Did I even understand the concept enough to explain my confusion correctly? :-) <clip>
