Eric, Your PC userid/password must be identical to your AS400 userid/password Are you referring to my network user ID and password? Our PC and AS/400 systems have different password rules and I don't know if I can get the two in sync. You must set up "Guest" access to your AS400 and grant authority to your VB program to the "guest" profile you create. Would this be in the system FTP setup? My goal is to do this entirely on the AS/400 because the user PC's may not all be set up the same way. The thinking being that if I can run the program from the IFS we won't need to change the PC configuration in any way or worry about drives being mapped properly and consistently with the same drive letters. Thanks for the help, Rick -----Original Message----- From: DeLong, Eric [mailto:EDeLong@Sallybeauty.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 9:18 AM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Running a VB program from the AS/400 IFS Rick, Your PC userid/password must be identical to your AS400 userid/password -or- You must set up "Guest" access to your AS400 and grant authority to your VB program to the "guest" profile you create. -or- I understand NT and W2K allow you to specify the user/password used to access a network resource. I'm not sure how to do it, though. I was trying to use the system name instead of the IP address and didn't have the root directory at all. I now have a different issue however and because this is new ground for us as far as I know I am not sure where to look next. Using this command STRPCCMD PCCMD('\\10.192.3.200\home\rcheva1\testexcel.exe') I receive the message 'Access is denied' in a DOS(?) pop up window but I don't know where the denial is happening. I have the directory mapped to a PC drive and can run the program from the PC just fine. The authority attributes on TESTEXCEL.EXE are *RWX which I believe to be the highest level of access. Can anyone help with where to look to track down the cause? -----Original Message----- From: Vern Hamberg [mailto:vhamberg@centerfieldtechnology.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 4:22 PM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: Running a VB program from the AS/400 IFS The following worked - need to specify the NetServer share name after the system name (or IP address) STRPCCMD PCCMD('\\192.168.1.3\root\home\vern\data1.txt') started up TextPad on my PC. root is the share name for '\' Cool Vern At 04:46 PM 11/26/2002 -0500, you wrote: >Try STRPCO, Then STRPCCMD PCCMD('\\myAs400\myfolder\mypgm.exe') > >Thanks, > >Mark > >Mark Walter >Sr. Programmer/Analyst >Hanover Wire Cloth a div of CCX, Inc. >mwalter@hanoverwire.com >http://www.hanoverwire.com >717.637.3795 Ext.3040 > > >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------| > | > | > | To: "Midrange Mailing List (E-mail)" > <midrange-l@midrange.com> | > | cc: > | > | Subject: Running a VB program from the AS/400 > IFS | > > >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------| > >This message is in MIME format.
