What I did is create a separate IP for each line. Then I created a Virtual
IP. I put the VIP into DNS and WINS. I added two routes to the VIP in our
default router. The VIP must be on a separate subnet as the physical IP.
This also gives OS400 the ability to do outbound load balancing on both
Ethernet lines. Each Ethernet is plugged into a different switch and soon
to be on different subnets.

I have an AS/400 with two ethernet lines. The second line is intended to
back up the first line. Each line will connect to the LAN through different
switches. The intention is if the first line or switch fails then the AS/400
(and all incoming traffic) will automatically use the second one. How do I
configure that? To create an interface do I need an IP address for each
line?
