Linux is actually mostly just the kernel.  The Linux distros have some 
version of the kernel (which may have been changed by the distributor) plus 
whatever shells, GUI interfaces, utilities, and applications that the 
distributor wants to include.

I would imagine that all IBM is planning to do is include some 
utilities/applications which provide features that IBM is already providing 
for AIX.

If this is the case, these feature would not have ever been part of Unix 
and so it is doubtful that SCO has a leg to stand.  This is probably a ploy 
hoping that IBM will shell out money rather than taking it to court.
