data queue entries and jobq entries I can live with.
the spool files is a different question.

I am being told I need to save those...and we have nearly 100,000.

Any suggestions?

We DO NOT use or even have installed the BRMS licensed program IBM
provides.

Jim,

I just went through this a couple of weeks ago. It isn't painless, but
it
can be pretty smooth.

It would have been painless if we hadn't experienced big problems with
the
machine not wanting to alternate IPL from the cdrom drive. After all
was
said and done, we took a 6 hour hit because the drives had to be
formatted.
It was a very good thing we did this on a 3 day weekend.

The manual you want to go through is the Backup and Recovery Guide.
Take a
look at the "Recovering your entire system after a complete system loss
-
Checklist 20", "Verifying and Selecting an Alternate Installation Device
during a Manual Installation (only necessary if you aren't postively
sure
your 8mm is not an Alternate IPL Device)", "Appendix D. Recovering your
server".

Are you aware you will lose your spool files, jobq entries, and data
queue
entries unless you address these in advance?
