The System/36 Environment Reference manual indicates that "If the file
has
more than one member, but no date is specified, the size of the member
with
the most recent creation date is substituted".

This can be found in the V5R2 Information Center by:
iSeries supplemental manuals
System/36 and System/38
System/36
System/36 Environment Reference

and looking in chapter 3 under topic ?F'A,name'? or ?F'A,name, date'?
(File
Size) Expression

You are quite right actually. I am struggling with OCL36 wherein the
*FIRST member has data but the second member is blank and there is a
code that checks for file attribute as

             IF ?F'A,FILE'?/0 GOTO NORECS

Where NORECS sends an error message. When I try DSPPFM *FIRST, it
displays the correct member as well as in any CL. But when it is OCL, I
am not able to determine why this picks up the 2nd member. Do you know
what is the problem here and how could I resolve it? (Of course
converting to CL will be ideal but can't have that luxury and there are
hundreds of OCL as above.)

Thanks for all the help,
Sudha
