Richard: As you mention, beyond command and menu definitions, the QLICHGLL API allows changing product libraries. I use this sometimes for "utility" kinds of functions. Normally, my "utility" programs run this way: 1. Retrieve job's product library 1 & 2 and save the value of prdlib 2. 2. Call QLICHGLL and specify my utility's library as the new prdlib 1 and the previous prdlib 1 as the new prdlib 2. Note that this removes the previous prdlib 2 from the library list, but it's almost certain that it won't be needed for a moment. 3. Perform my actual utility function. 4. Call QLICHGLL to restore the initial prdlib 1 & 2 values. 5. Return from my program. When the entire utility procedure is ended, the job's library list is back where it started. My internal stuff ran fine because everything was found in the library list during the time it was needed. Generally, IBM commands seem to work the same way. So if I happen to call such a command within my stuff, the library list is restored when it gets back to me (and I subsequently restore before returning, etc., up and down the chain.)
