Yes, if you want to post to the lists served by the Gmane news server, 
you have to remain subscribed to midrange.com with the address you use 
for mail.  You do not, however, need to get each message.  You can set 
yourself to "No mail" on the list options page.

You will still get the monthly password reminders, but that's it.
