Don, Thanks for your good wishes, as well as your (and others) thoughts about what you want to see improved. I know that room rates are a big issue for a lot of folks (especially the independent members), but I don't yet see an easy way out of that. As I'm sure you already know, the hotels give COMMON "free" use of the conference facilities in return for a guaranteed minimum return based on rented rooms. If the Hotel doesn't meet its revenue minimums, then it charges COMMON a fee equal to the shortfall. So it seems that the "free" conference facilities have their own costs as well. I'm only a week into this, but I suspect that the die for Orlando may already be cast. If you have any ideas on how to lessen this burden, please let me know. Note to everyone: Please keep asking, poking, prodding and demanding from Me and from COMMON. We need to know what is important, and what the value of COOMON is perceived to be. jte -- John Earl | Chief Technology Officer The PowerTech Group 19426 68th Ave. S Seattle, WA 98032 (253) 872-7788 ext. 302 john.earl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.powertech.com -- > -----Original Message----- > From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l- > bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Don > Sent: Monday, April 28, 2003 5:08 PM > To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Congrads John Earl! > > > Congrads to John Earl for his newly appointed position on the COMMON Board > of Directors! > > I'm not sure if COMMON's ready for you dude, but good luck! > > Oh, btw, while you're there, you want to see what you can do about the > room rates for the Orlando Conference and Expo in the fall?
