This is an example in my test environment that uses the SYSCOLUMNS method I mentioned earlier. Everything you see is generated dynamically. You can also see recursion occurring both in a 1->M (artists for this concert) and 1->1 format (concert venue). That also occurs automatically based on my file naming scheme and a query over SYSTABLES, and I control which fields are displayed and which files are recursed from a sort-a "control" table. So you can see it does give you a lot of control, and queries within queries are no problem, although nobody is accusing SQL of being too fast.
