"Elsewhere" is already booked too. 1) Empty rooms cost the hotel. A price perhaps in $125 - 150 range would probably give the hotel bookings a 30 - 60% boost in volume, maybe more. 2) Once the Common minimum obligation has been reached, anything above that is gravy for the hotels. 3) If I'm not mistaken, the conference is off season for Florida. This means that there s/b room for negotiation.
