Your first guess is correct. I have tried the userid/password as all
uppercase and all lowercase and userid upercase and password lowercase. My
pc is a workgroup member - there is no domain. And the userid stuff is
defined on the pc in question and I have tried all combinations of
upper/lower case that I could think of

Used the 'CaseSensentiveWindowsName' and I am at V5R2M0 current cum.
When
I put '5' by it to display it waits a while like it is trying then just
displays the . and .. ;)
Plenty more when crossing Windows domain boundaries (trust relationships,
firewalls, who knows what else).

by the way - I only use SetSockOpt, if it would help I have a working
Prototype for that...
