Myself, I really doubt they threw away years of stability for Linux (not
that linux isn't stable). If that was the case, then RPG could be done under
linux.

"microcode was optimized to support linux" but even that is a bit of a

I just had an interesting discussion with our IBM CE....

We were talking about V5R2 and he told me:

"Expect a 8-10% performance increase because the microcode for V5R2 was all
rewritten in Linux" 

"Future OS/400 code will all be written in Linux too with a GUI over it to
make it look like OS/400"

Hmmmmmmmm ...  Has anyone else heard this?
