Hi Booth,
I got it sorted out.
Turns out I was mistakenly thinking that a multi-format logical can only
show one format at a time ("runqry *n" only gives the first record format,
and SQL won't touch the thing with a very long pole).
I have meanwhile gotten to a point where I can, in an RPG program only
though, run through the logical and get all records in order, no matter
from which physical it comes. ?One caveat: I have to use the file name, not
the record name.
And when i rename the records to a common name, it works like a charm.
Thanks to those who responded.

What is it about
the join logical
that doesn't
work for you?
How large are

method that
might also work
if you are under

to build a

is to use
matching
record logic.
