Alan, In reading through the documentation for the command STRDSKRGZ, I ran across the following line: "Unused space will be collected together within the ASP. This allows future large disk allocations to be done more efficiently." Are you sure this is what you want? You may receive some benefit from using the command, but I don't believe that it will free up space, merely collect free space together into larger blocks. My understanding is that you will not have trouble with exclusive locks. If you set the time limit to *NOMAX, it will end when it thinks it is done, or you can issue the ENDDSKRGZ command to kill it.
