Here's our quote on the V5R2 ifs type 2 directories: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/education/pie/pdf/quotesv5r2.pdf Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I'm hearing some conflicting information .... On one hand I hear that upgrading to *TYPR2 directory entries in the IFS can be run on V5R1 or on V5R2 after the during the installation or after the installation... Then I went to look at the V5R1 Information Center and it says: If you have V5R1, you can convert your V5R1 directories to the *TYPE2 directory format. It is recommended that you convert to the *TYPE2 directory format before installing a new release of OS/400. This is necessary because the directory conversion may automatically be done during the installation. The impact of an automatic conversion during install is that the time required for the installation will be significantly increased. So, my question for the group is - Have you upgraded IFS directories to the *TYPE2 format, before, during or after the upgrade to V5R2 and why?
