We use the e-twinax devices from BOS in 2 of our locations, and attach
via DSL and the internet. We did this because of the cost of frame relay
from Portland., OR to Anchorage AK....it does work

Subject: Control Unit's ? We don't (want) no stinkin' CONTROL UNITS...

Hi Folks,

We are a frame relay network of 10 locations (counting the host).

We are a wholesale distributor so we are tied to impact printers (at
this
point) printing out 3 part NCR Pick Tickets.

We've had a Perle 494 controller screw up at one of the sites. It is
getting
an error 003-03 which it thinks the proper diskette is not in the
diskette
drive; but it is.. Replacing that diskette with another renders the same
error. I'm sick and tired of these blasted things and diskettes, etc.
This
control unit was replaced in early April for a similar issue but at
least
that error code pointed out a bad diskette drive ! And the diskettes in
use
now are not the same ones from the previous control unit.

Is there a way to replace control units with something else and still be
able to attach twin-ax devices ?

Luckily they have some PC's that are coming through the router OK so
they
can do everything a terminal can do. Just no way to print Pick Tickets
until
I get this resolved !

Thanks !

Chuck
