The biggest reason I can think of in a case like this is maintenance costs and 
availability.  If
he has a maintenance contract on his 36, I can't help but think that it would 
be less expensive to
lease a small iSeries.  If he doesn't have a maintenance contract, what happens 
if something fails
on it?  Who ya gonna call?

Still, it speaks well to the quality of the S/3x-AS400-iSeries lineage.
