While you could use the channel (using virtual lan) and skip an additional
lan card, I wouldn't. You still want that additional router in there to
separate your DMZ. Oh, I suppose you could go from your DMZ to a Linux
partition running a firewall back to your backend LPAR.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. The main reason that

when I started poking around about LPAR. I was
thinking of it's use as a second iSeries. Therefore,
I was told that I needed additional cabling, printers,
and other hardware.
But in the case of just running WebSphere on it, would
I need anything? Or could I just configure the LPAR,
load Websphere, and go? Also would I need to
re-purchase Websphere for the partition?
