Responses In Line....

- How about a DBA?  
<<  No DBA, but from what I have read, we will probably need one.

- Will your network need to be upgraded?  
<<  Network should be fine (gigabit backbone, 10/100 everywhere else)

- If staff reductions include a nearly complete turnover, will there be
anyone left on the technical side who knows anything about footwear?
<<  I have a small staff (5 tech), and 2 would have their jobs change 
completely (only RPG background)...

- ...claim a 100% current and future match?  What cheek!

- Does the database server configuration provide for failover/redundancy?  
These factors would make the comparison more apples and apples.
<<  No redundancy, and pretty minimal requirements.  Definitely seems 
underpowered...

- Has your iSeries vendor oversized your new hardware?  
<<  In our present ERP, we were undersized.  With that history, I have opted to 
quote higher on our 400 than necessarily required...  For example, I wanted the 
'Enterprise' level machine to get access to the full CPW...
