Rick,

That was the one of the ways I considered (because I used to do the same
thing in DOS) but I cannot find an equivalent C function. When I think about
it, this is not surprising because OS/400 has to deal with the whole screen
using 5250 data stream rather than just being able to deal with one
character at a time like the PC did.

Hi Marty,

        It's been a long time, but I remember writing a password getter in C
for
dos which used getc() to get incoming characters after prompting.  IIRC this
did not echo characters to the screen.  Would this work in Qshell?
