Vern and others, appreciate the feedback. Will try to investigate some
more... However, this seems at first glance to be an awful lotta issues to
deal with, to get a console working. Remote Console /may/ be worth the
effort and there may be other capabilities not available on twinax console
I'm not aware of... If I *knew* I'd have the kind-a luck Jeffry Kennedy had
getting it to work on first go-round, I wouldn't be so hesitant.

| I've had good luck with Ops Console, been running it with little
| difficulty
| for almost a year. The main issue at first was the IP subnetwork. Ops
| Console insists on 192.168.0.x, so the client PC has to have _ITS_ IP
| address in some other subnet, like 192.168.1.x .
|
| There have been some problems with where the card resides. The 2271 needs
| to be in C07 on a 270. This stuff is documented in some Info
| APAR, I think.
|
| There have been a couple times the server did not seem to
| recognize things,
| esp. after disconnect and reconnect of the Ops Console cable, but a *FULL
| IPL seems to have helped.

| All in all, I'm very happy with it.
|
| BTW, we are running the console on Win 2K at SP4, after Larry
| Bolhuis sent
| me the MS fix for remote servers.
