We have a client server application written in VB on the PC with access to
SQL tables and stored procedures on our AS/400 using OLE/ODBC...

The application has been experiencing some severe slow downs lately.

I ran a performance tool trace and discovered that there are many long
waits associated with locks on stored procedures.

I understand the how and why of locks on data tables, but what could
possibly cause a lock on a stored procedure? After all, it is just another
program on the AS/400, right?

Any ideas?

Kenneth
