Thanks to all who responded, I got it sorted out. Interestingly enough, I have used output-only files in the past, but only with OPM programs that would have closed them by the time I looked at them to examine the output. It was just a fluke that I happened to have a service-program active while I tried to look at the file. And since this program will be processing 40-50K+ records/shift or so, record-blocking sounds like a fine idea. Oh well, you learn something new everyday around here. (Even if it is a more complex and fancy way to wreck something. :))
